Social Media Policy

Laurel Carriers Social Media Policy for Employees and Seafarers when managing the corporate social media accounts as well as using social media personally. All company employees and seafarers should understand that information published on the internet is accessible to a large number of users. Information once posted online may not be deleted or contained. Therefore, one must be responsible and maintain an attitude of attentiveness when on social media.

i. Compliance

  • All employees and seafarers must adhere to the company Social Media and Data Privacy Policies when using any social media platforms.

ii. Use of Social Media at Work

  • Laurel Carriers social media accounts are created for official use, primarily for promotion, recruitment and official announcements. Thus, usage and access to these accounts must gain proper approval from the management. All employees should refrain from engaging on social media during office hours, while company owned equipment should not be used for the same purpose, unless it is work-related that is authorized by his/her manager. Furthermore, official Laurel Carriers email addresses should not be used to register on social networks, blogs or other online tools utilized for personal use.

iii. Guidelines

  • a. Derogatory, offensive, sensitive and discriminatory contents are prohibited on the company owned social media accounts.

    b. LCPI employees and seafarers are forbidden from tagging his/ her fellow seafarer, co-worker, the Company, including Laurel Carriers’ clients, Principals and vessels to any unfavorable statements against any person or entity.

    c. Employees as well as crew members are prohibited from sharing confidential company and clients’ information on any form social media sites. Moreover, they are expected to strictly observe the social media and Data Privacy Policies of Laurel Carriers, its clients, Principals, vessels, and should refrain from publishing any details, materials, photos and videos online without proper approval.

iv. Failure to observe the above policy shall be subject to disciplinary action.
